The 12 Minute Run (Cooper Test) is used to determine a persons aerobic fitness, which is the bodies ability to use oxygen. This test is a prerequisite for selection to Jr. and Sr. USAT teams.
*MET: The standard Metabolic EquivalenT新浪彩票, level. This unit is used to estimate the amount of oxygen used by the body during physical activity. 1 MET = the energy (oxygen) used by the body as you sit quietly, perhaps while talking on the phone or reading a book. The harder your body works during the activity, the higher the MET. -
**VO2 Max: During exercise VO2 Max is the point at which the body can no longer increase the amount of oxygen it uses despite the intensity of exercise increasing. If the intensity of exercise increases further the body starts to work anaerobically and lactic acid is produced. However, in most people lactic acid builds to painful levels below their VO2Max, this point is called the anaerobic threshold.
